LG’s UltraGear GX7 (27GX790A-B) has just hit the preorder stage, and it’s already making waves as one of the fastest gaming monitors available. With a sleek 27-inch OLED display, this $999.99 monitor promises a refresh rate of up to 480Hz, a 2560x1440p resolution, and a mind-boggling 0.03ms response time, making it a dream for competitive gamers.

The GX7 builds on LG’s OLED expertise, delivering deep blacks, rich colors, and enhanced motion clarity, courtesy of its DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. It also supports both NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync, ensuring smooth gameplay free of screen tearing. Plus, LG has added an anti-glare, low-reflection coating, ideal for minimizing distractions in brightly lit setups.

This monitor doesn’t just focus on gaming. LG has incorporated its META technology, using micro-lens arrays and brightness-boosting META-Boosters, offering a 60% brightness increase and better viewing angles. Additionally, it claims to emit less blue light compared to traditional OLED displays, making it more comfortable for extended use.

The GX7 doesn’t skimp on connectivity. You’ll find HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, and multiple USB 3.0 ports. It also includes a headphone jack for audio enthusiasts. Its minimalist stand allows height adjustments, tilting, and swiveling, making it versatile for various desk setups.

Priced just under $1,000, the GX7 competes with models like Sony’s InZone M10S and Samsung’s QD-OLED gaming monitors, which cap at 360Hz. While the GX7 edges out rivals in refresh rate, some competitors offer features like higher resolutions or larger screens, such as Samsung’s 4K, and 240Hz options.

Preorders are open via LG’s official US store, though shipping dates remain unspecified. If you’re a high-performance gamer or esports enthusiast looking to squeeze every millisecond of advantage, the GX7 is worth considering. But casual players might find its steep price less justifiable.

With its cutting-edge specs and focus on delivering silky-smooth gameplay, LG’s UltraGear GX7 shows how far gaming monitors have come—but it also raises the bar for what’s to come next year.
