If you’ve been eyeing Nothing’s quirky-looking over-ear headphones, Amazon has just made the Nothing Headphone (a) considerably more interesting. The white model is currently selling for $139, down from its $199 list price, representing a $60 reduction and a 30% discount.

That makes this a particularly notable price for a pair of over-ear ANC headphones from Nothing, especially since the company itself currently lists the Headphone (a) at $199 in the U.S.

The white model is the one to watch

The $139 price applies to the White version shown in the Amazon listing. The other three color options — Black, Pink, and Yellow — are currently priced at $159, according to Amazon’s Nothing storefront.

That means you’re saving an additional $20 by going with the white model. The other colors are still $40 below their $199 list price, but the white version gets the larger 30% reduction.

What you get for $139

The Headphone (a) is built around a feature set that makes the discounted price more interesting than the percentage alone suggests. Nothing says the headphones support Hi-Res Audio and LDAC, along with an advanced EQ, Spatial Audio, dual-device connectivity, and USB-C and 3.5mm wired connections.

There is also active noise cancellation with up to 40dB of noise reduction, plus Transparency Mode. Nothing says its ANC system uses AI-powered feedforward and feedback microphones to adjust noise cancellation.

Battery life is another big part of the Headphone (a)’s appeal. Nothing rates it for up to 135 hours of playback with ANC off using AAC, or up to 75 hours with ANC enabled. With LDAC, those figures drop to up to 90 hours and 62 hours, respectively. As always, those are laboratory figures at 50% volume, so real-world battery life will vary.

The headphones also support fast charging, with Nothing claiming up to eight hours of playback from a five-minute charge when ANC is off.

And, naturally, there’s plenty of Nothing weirdness baked into the experience. The Headphone (a) uses physical controls including a button, roller and paddle, while the Nothing X app provides an eight-band equalizer for customizing the sound.

$139 makes more sense than $199

At the regular $199 price, the Headphone (a) sits in a much more competitive part of the over-ear headphone market. At $139, however, the equation changes.

You’re getting Hi-Res wireless audio with LDAC, ANC, very long claimed battery life, an adjustable EQ and Nothing’s distinctive design for considerably less than the company’s normal $199 asking price.

The catch is that the $139 deal is currently limited to the White model. If you specifically want Black, Pink or Yellow, Amazon is charging $159 for those versions right now.
