A desktop web screenshot of YouTube Premium featuring the "Custom Feeds" creation interface. In the center, a bold heading reads "A new feed beyond your homepage," followed by the subheading: "Take control and create a feed for your daily routines, favorite hobbies, and everything in between". Beneath it is a highlighted input field containing the query "late night ASMR and rain soundscapes" with a red forward arrow button. Four suggested prompt prompts are listed below: "Late night chill: lo-fi beats, rainy city views, and warm tea vibes," "Help me fall asleep with calm ambient rain sounds under 15 mins," "I want to explore something totally new outside my usual bubble," and "Find calm, distraction-free study companion vlogs to keep me focused". The standard YouTube navigation sidebar appears on the left and topic filter chips run across the top.

YouTube is giving viewers another way to control what lands on their homepage, because apparently one endless stream of videos wasn’t enough.

The company is introducing Custom Feeds, a new feature that lets users create dedicated tabs on the YouTube homepage around specific interests, moods, routines, or whatever rabbit hole they happen to be falling into that week.

Think of it as creating your own little content doses instead of relying on one giant recommendation feed.

Want something for winding down at night? You could create a feed around long documentaries. Looking for new creators to follow? You could make another one for DIY creators. YouTube says viewers will be able to create and save multiple feeds, with each one tuned to a different interest.

And yes, this is basically YouTube saying: “Tell us what kind of content you’re in the mood for today.”

That could be useful for people whose interests change throughout the day. Your morning YouTube homepage might need tech videos, your evening homepage might need documentaries, and somewhere in between there may be a completely unnecessary three-hour journey into videos about restoring 1970s machinery.

The Custom Feeds will appear as dedicated tabs accessible from the homepage, giving each interest its own space rather than mixing everything into the same recommendation stream. YouTube says the feature will be available soon for users in the U.S. across web, mobile, and TVs.

An animated demonstration of YouTube's experimental "Custom Feeds" feature on desktop. The screen displays the heading "A new feed beyond your homepage" with the description "Take control and create a feed for your daily routines, favorite hobbies, and everything in between". The animation depicts the central input bar starting with the placeholder text "Describe your new feed," typing out a custom query ("late night ASMR and rain soundscapes"), clicking the submission arrow, and loading the resulting personalized content feed. Suggested prompts (such as "Late night chill: lo-fi beats..." and "Help me fall asleep...") are shown beneath the text box.

The interesting part is that YouTube isn’t limiting this to a single custom feed. Users can save multiple feeds for different interests, which makes the feature feel less like a simple filter and more like creating several personalized versions of the YouTube homepage.

So, instead of opening YouTube and asking, “What does the algorithm think I should watch?”, you can eventually have separate places for the things you actually want to watch.

Because sometimes you don’t need more content.

You just need the right content dose.
