Ring is expanding beyond its familiar lineup of consumer-focused security cameras with the new Ring Dome Cam 4K, a professional-oriented camera designed for small and mid-sized businesses, commercial spaces, and higher-end residential installations.

Announced September 1, the Ring Dome Cam 4K is priced at $299.99 and combines 4K video, flexible connectivity, local storage, and a tamper-resistant dome design aimed at installations where continuous security coverage is important. Ring says the camera is designed for places such as retail stores, warehouses, offices, and multi-location businesses, while also being suitable for residential environments.

The camera is part of Ring’s broader push into professional security installations. Rather than requiring installers to maintain separate camera models for different types of projects, the Dome Cam 4K supports both USB-C and Power over Ethernet (PoE) for power, while offering dual-band Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity. That gives installers more flexibility when working with existing properties or new construction.

Ring says the approach is intended to simplify installation and inventory, allowing the same camera to be deployed over Wi-Fi in a retrofit project or connected through PoE in a new installation.

At the center of the Dome Cam 4K is what Ring calls Retinal 4K video, paired with night vision for around-the-clock monitoring. The company says the dome design helps reduce glare and reflections that can affect conventional lens covers, particularly in environments with overhead lighting, skylights, or large storefront windows.

The camera is also designed for continuous recording. With a compatible Ring subscription, the Dome Cam 4K can support 24/7 continuous recording in 4K, which could be particularly useful for businesses that need footage outside normal operating hours. Ring notes that cloud recordings are temporarily stored for up to 14 days, depending on the applicable subscription and configuration.

For businesses, that distinction matters. A camera that only records when motion is detected can miss context before or after an event, while continuous recording provides a much more complete view of what happened.

The physical design is another major part of Ring’s pitch. The low-profile dome form factor is intended to blend into ceilings and corridors while making the camera more difficult to tamper with.

Ring says the camera was developed with feedback from professional installers and custom integrators, with an emphasis on flexibility across commercial and residential projects. Local storage is also supported, allowing footage to be preserved on the device if connectivity is temporarily interrupted.

The Dome Cam 4K also includes LED recording indicators and customizable privacy zones. End-to-end encryption is available as an additional privacy measure, although Ring notes that enabling it disables certain features.

The camera can also be integrated with other Ring products, allowing businesses to build out a larger security system rather than deploying the Dome Cam 4K in isolation.

For businesses that want professional monitoring on top of video surveillance, Ring also points to its Virtual Security Guard service, which can respond to eligible events in real time and request emergency services when appropriate. That service requires an additional subscription and eligible hardware.

Ring has announced a $299.99 price for the Dome Cam 4K, positioning it as a way to bring professional-grade 4K surveillance to smaller businesses without the complexity traditionally associated with enterprise security systems.

However, the camera isn’t immediately available. Ring’s announcement says it will arrive in the coming months, while the current product page lists the $299.99 camera as out of stock and offers an option to receive an availability notification.

There’s another important caveat for U.S. buyers: Ring currently states that the Dome Cam 4K has not yet received the required FCC authorization and cannot be offered for sale or lease until that authorization is obtained.

Ring also offers professional installation for the camera, with installation pricing starting at $129.99 per device. The service includes mounting and wiring, removal of an existing device, configuration of Wi-Fi and the Ring app, smart-home integration, and hands-on training. Additional wiring modifications can cost extra.

With the Dome Cam 4K, Ring is clearly targeting a different part of the security-camera market. Its $299.99 price sits well above the company’s mainstream indoor and outdoor cameras, but the combination of 4K recording, PoE, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, local storage, continuous recording, and a professional dome design gives it a more serious role in commercial installations.

For small businesses that want to build a security system around Ring’s existing ecosystem, that could make the Dome Cam 4K an interesting middle ground between consumer cameras and more complex enterprise surveillance hardware.
