Tesla has just rolled out a new version of the Cybertruck in the U.S., and this one is aimed squarely at making the futuristic pickup more accessible. The company announced a dual-motor all-wheel-drive model starting at $59,990, which is a significant drop compared to earlier trims that hovered closer to six figures. It’s being pitched as the “most affordable Cybertruck yet,” but still carries the same stainless-steel exoskeleton and unmistakable angular design that made the truck a cultural talking point from the moment it was unveiled.

This new trim promises an estimated 325 miles of range, a powered tonneau cover, and practical features like bed outlets—two 120V and one 240V—so owners can plug in tools or even run appliances directly from the truck. Tesla is leaning hard into the idea of the Cybertruck as both a lifestyle vehicle and a workhorse, highlighting its ability to deliver up to 9.6kW of power on-site.

The timing of this launch is telling. Tesla has faced slower-than-expected Cybertruck sales since deliveries began, and the company is clearly hoping that a lower entry price will broaden its appeal. While $59,990 is still well above the starting price of traditional pickups like the Ford F-150, which begins around $39,000, it’s a notable step toward affordability in the EV truck segment.

Interestingly, Tesla also trimmed the price of its top-tier tri-motor “Cyberbeast” by $15,000, bringing it down to $99,990. That move suggests Tesla is recalibrating its lineup to capture more buyers across the spectrum—from those who want a rugged, capable EV truck without the premium tag, to enthusiasts who crave maximum performance.

For buyers, the new Cybertruck represents a chance to get into Tesla’s most radical vehicle without breaking into six figures. For Tesla, it’s a test of whether a more budget-friendly version can finally turn the Cybertruck from a viral spectacle into a mainstream success. Whether this gamble pays off will depend on how many people are ready to swap their traditional pickups for a stainless-steel wedge that looks like it drove straight out of a sci-fi movie.
