DJI has launched a new mini drone called the “DJI Mini 3 Pro,” which is really a portable lightweight camera drone that weighs only 249g and costs $669 to $909 in the US, depending on the bundle you choose.
The new DJI Mini 3 Pro captures 4K videos at 60fps and features advanced functions like ActiveTrack, tri-directional obstacle sensing and a 90° gimbal rotation to shoot high-quality vertical imaging for social media, all while extending its flight time to well over 30 minutes.
The new DJI Mini 3 Pro secured its position in the safest drone category by maintaining a weight under 250g, according to various countries’ and regions’ regulations.
The Mini 3 Pro was made with more built-in features than any other DJI drone size, thanks to enhanced flight performance, camera system, battery life, and intelligent features that were previously only available in the Air and Mavic series.
The Mini 3 Pro features an entirely new structural design that improves performance. The propellers and arms have been changed for a more aerodynamic flight that extends the flight time. The forward and backward dual-vision sensors are mounted at the front of the drone in this new design, extending the sensing range for an even safer flight. A completely redesigned gimbal allows for more camera angles than ever before, including tilt-up shots and vertical shooting.
DJI Mini 3 Pro features Tri-Directional Obstacle Sensing, consisting of forward, backward, and downward visual sensors. The forward and downward sensors offer a broader field of view, allowing for more seamless route planning and environmental awareness. Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) 4.0, which detects and finds a safer path around obstructions during flying, is also enabled by these sensors.
Furthermore, these sensors enable the entire FocusTrack suite, which allows users to choose a subject that the drone will automatically keep in the center of the camera while flying while preparing a safe flight route. The DJI Mini 3 Pro is the first in the Mini family to integrate APAS and FocusTrack thanks to its enhanced sensing technology.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro also features a much-improved image technology. Dual native ISO on a 1/1.3-inch CMOS camera sensor was previously only accessible in cinema and some micro single cameras. It also features an f/1.7 aperture and can shoot photos up to 48MP and 4K/60fps video. The camera rotates 90 degrees for True Vertical Shooting to assist capture high-quality, easy-to-upload content, creating spectacular images and movies in portrait mode without sacrificing image quality through image zooming and cropping.
For the most vivid detail, HDR video recording is available at frame rates up to 30fps. A Normal color profile is available for quick in-app editing, while D-Cinelike allows for more post-editing possibilities. Digital video zoom at up to 2x is available in 4K, 3x in 2.7K, and 4x in Full HD. Among the key pieces of user feedback we’ve applied, DJI Mini 3 Pro also has improved image performance with 2.4μm pixels that capture more image detail, which is especially helpful in low lighting and night.
Even though the DJI Mini 3 Pro weighs only 249 grams, it has a long flying time. The Mini 3 Pro can fly for up to 34 minutes, allowing it to capture more landscapes and destinations on a single battery. For the first time in DJI drone history, the Mini 3 Pro offers an extended flight battery option to provide users with more options.
The Intelligent Flying Battery Plus provides a maximum flight time of 47 minutes, which is unheard of for a drone of this size. The O3 transmission system, which gives a sharp 1080p live picture from a distance of up to 12 kilometers, goes wonderfully with this extended flying time.
